How to cancel an Amazon Prime membership

What to check before you cancel, and the steps to do it.

Last checked

Before you cancel

Cancelling ends the whole membership. You lose free next-day delivery, Prime Video, Prime Music, and the other Prime benefits.

Amazon shows the date your access ends on the cancellation page.

Films and programmes you bought stay yours after you cancel. A rental is different, so watch it before your access ends.

Amazon says that the fee is refundable in two cases. You get it back in full if nobody on your account has used a Prime benefit this period. If someone has, Amazon may refund part of it, based on the benefits used rather than the time left.

If you signed up through another company, cancel with that company rather than Amazon. Ask that company for any refund too.

How to cancel an Amazon Prime membership

  2. Sign in to your Amazon account.
  3. Select the button that says “End on” followed by a date.
  4. Save the confirmation email, or take a screenshot.
