An Accessible Format on Request

Where the person needs the response in an accessible format, the organisation provides it in that format.

Intent

A person who cannot read the format the response arrives in has not received it. Asking for another format should be enough to get one.

How to test it

An assessor scores the criterion against a single response:

Score 2
The organisation provided the response in the accessible format the person asked for.
Score 1
The organisation provided an alternative format, but not the one asked for, or only after the person asked again.
Score 0
The organisation did not provide the response in an accessible format.
Not applicable
The person did not need the response in an accessible format.

The law it reflects

This criterion reflects Article 12(1) of the UK GDPR. That mapping is a guide, not a legal test: conformance is judged against the criterion, not the article.

See G6 in context in the full standard.
